Dear Girls,
You have POWER within you to make a difference. Every single word you say, action you display, and drop of compassion or lack thereof that you give away is influencing your life and impacting the lives of those around you. That’s a pretty big power that rests on your shoulders.
There are so many around you that need your love. Sometimes we may be unaware, but there are SO many of your peers that don’t have someone to eat lunch with on a daily basis. As you open your eyes, you will be aware of all those who feel lonely, or are shy, or struggle with making connections or making friends, not for any reason other than they simply need someone to be the one to reach out.
It’s storytime, and yes this is a true story. It’s a story about an LDS boy named Kent Williams. Everyone wanted to date Kent Williams. Yes he was charming, yes he had talents, but that’s not why all the girls were in love with him. He had an influence that was impeccable and contagious. He would say hi to everyone in the halls at school, he would invite others to attend seminary with him, and he started a lunch group up on a hill where EVERY SINGLE PERSON in that school was invited, not one would be excluded. He wasn’t doing it for any other reason than for the love he had for Christ.
Here’s the whole story down below. Your life will be changed forever by listening to this message. It’s a long talk but worth it. Listen to it while you’re driving in the car, listen to it when you’re getting ready in the morning, you won’t regret it.
So I share that story for a purpose, to remind you that YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
One teen girl is proving just how true that statement is.

Natalie Hampton, a 16-year-old teen from California created a new app called Sit With Us. It’s an app that matches students with other students to always have someone to sit with at lunch. In this app you have the opportunity to be an ambassador.
AMBASSADOR definition from the app:
“An ambassador is someone who wants to take an active leadership role in promoting a kind and inclusive school community. An ambassador agrees to host lunches on campus, whenever possible and to invite people to join the lunch table. No one should have to eat lunch alone. An ambassador will make sure that the invitees are welcome and included in the conversations. Ambassadors will also check in with other ambassadors from time to time to make sure the program is going well.”
There is a welcome packet on their website under the contact tab that you can download.

If you’re looking for a way to make a difference or to be an example of Jesus Christ, this ambassador role was meant for you! Download the app, which is called ‘Sit With Us’. Be an example! Do something! No one should EVER have to eat lunch alone.
If you’re that girl that needs a friend to sit with, don’t be shy about using the app. Others desire to serve and this is an opportunity for them to reach out.
It’s incredible Natalie used her negative experiences of sitting alone her entire 7th-grade year to turn it into a positive and create a lasting change for the future. Way to go, Natalie, we love you and we are grateful you recognized the power within you to do something. You are forever a #PowerOfOneGirl!
