Visualization is an incredible avenue to get into that creative process Heavenly Father wants us to play a part in. He created this beautiful earth for us. The magnificence of its creation is nothing we should take lightly or for granted. If you’re looking for more opportunities to really connect with Heavenly Father or to feel the love He has for you personally, this mindfulness exercise is a great way to do just that. God wants us to take time to ponder. To be still and take moments of peaceful thinking. What greater gift can we give our maker than to ponder on one of the amazing gifts Him and His Son created just for us.
Each one of us will be drawn to a different scene, and that’s the beauty of it. That’s how we know God loves us and knows us individually. The scene you love, your “happy place”, that was made with love just for you. Appreciating a gift is often is shown by reflecting on and finding joy in said gift.
If you find yourself anxious, this exercise is a powerful one. Have a friend, a parent, or a sibling read you the visualization while you close your eyes and reflect on every question. It’s super calming after about 5 minutes and the more often you do it, the better you’ll get at calming your mind down quicker.
After going through a really dark season of anxiety and depression,
I will never forget the beautiful scene of being in my grandma’s backyard for a moment of solitude while visiting with her.
Picture this with me:
Her lawn, as green as green could be.
Mid-July with flowers blossoming all around.
A garden that was full of raspberries, strawberries, and peaches.
Bees buzzing around the flowers peacefully, not intimidating to sting.
A view of a gorgeous canyon and the snake river running just below her yard.
No fences, you could see everything perfectly.
As you sit on the grass, it’s soft.
Perfectly soft and you could lay in it as if it was summer snow.
The flowers, it’s as if you were watching them blossom in that very moment.
The bright, vibrant colors that surrounded every corner you looked.
Butterflies surrounding so many plants and flying above, it’s as if I felt Heavenly Father’s arms wrap around me for a warm embrace at that moment.
This is the scene I go back to when I need a safe place or a moment to have a mindful moment. Think of your happy place…use this exercise often and use it in your times of need.
