Have you ever thought about the divine beauty of your body? I’m not talking about the beauty that comes from your shiny locks or long eyelashes. I’m talking about the divine goodness of your body.
YOUR BODY IS A GIFT
Your body is a gift, you know that… you’ve heard it over a hundred times. But what does that mean? It’s a gift that you have in this life as it houses your spirit. YOUR SPIRIT… the awesome child of God that’s lived for thousands of years (I would assume it’s been thousands) before coming to this mortal life. Your spirit that KNOWS truth and has a divine mission. Your spirit that knows Christ personally and has had the opportunity of talking to Him and is friends with him. Yes, that spirit. It’s pretty remarkable and it is so fragile that it needed some protection. So, God created it a body.
That’s your body we are talking about here. Your body that will be a blessing to you if you take care of it and use it correctly.
Cause here’s the thing, your body is going to have to deal with some hard things as well, and that’s also part of God’s plan… for it to be your TEACHER! But thinking about how this body allows me to be here on earth to learn & grow, it makes me want to do MORE for it.
THERE IS PURPOSE IN TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY
MORE like feed it healthy foods and exercise so it can function to the best of it’s ability through God’s will. I think fitness has a lot more purpose in that perspective when you realize it’s housing one of the most sacred things in this world.
Fitness is always something that I saw as just a hobby. If you love it, GREAT! Have fun! For me though, it was something I dreaded. In elementary school, I was always the last to get chosen on a sports team in P.E. and my mom well meaning would joke with me and say “You got your terrible hand-eye coordination from me.” I took that to heart and created a limiting belief about myself that I wasn’t ever going to be good at sports, be athletic, and really there is no point in trying because that’s just how it was.
LIMITING BELIEFS CAN BE CRUSHED
I wish I knew then what I know now. What we think about we start to create as a reality. (Proverbs 23:17 “As a woman thinketh in her heart, so is she.” – Words adapted) I decided I loved riding my bike and running (I was NOT a fast or long runner I might add, but I did it because it made me feel good. I’ve learned in my life that I NEVER regret exercising, I ONLY regret when I don’t. I then started lifting weights in my early 20’s and it wasn’t easy, but it was empowering. I never became a master at it but that’s okay because all God wants for us is to TRY the hard things and to not stop.
PREPARE YOUR BODY TO BE USED TO CRUSH SATAN
Taking care of your body, which is a temple. Temples are homes of sacred things. And because your body is a temple, when you take care of it and treat it right, it can lead you closer to Christ.
Think about a temple. It gets closed every so often to become cleaned, thoroughly clean. (That’s what we do with our bodies once a month when we fast. We close it so it can become spiritually and physically cleaned. A temple also restricts certain things to be brought in, any impure elements. So shouldn’t we? For example how much sugar and processed foods do we allow into our special home when they can be so toxic for our health? Temples work hard throughout the day, a lot of energy is used in a day and that completely ties into fitness and exercise. Temples also close at the same time every night and rise early just as the scripture in D&C says.
God wants us to exercise, it’s part of His plan. He just doesn’t want us to do it for the wrong reasons. He doesn’t want us doing it because we care so much about our appearance that we forget why we have a body in the first place. Our bodies give us POWER over Satan! And that, THAT is the point! Use your body for good! Make it strong and healthy so it can be used as a tool AGAINST him, because if you don’t, Satan will find a way to have you use your body to get lost in his war, leading him to have power over you.
Girl, YOU GOT THIS!!!
